Wastewater, Reused

Many people believe that recycling only pertains to paper and metals, but in fact, water is also commonly recycled. Recycling water is a beneficial way to reuse treated wastewater and convert it into water that can be reused for irrigation and industrial purposes. Since water is beginning to be seen as scarce around the world, recycling water is very important. The water that is recycled in these plants however, is not used for drinking. Instead of having to waste clean, drinkable water for things such as irrigation and agriculture, this non-drinkable, recycled water can be used for those things. In turn, this will allow the safe drinking water to be limited to just drinking instead of irrigation, and will hopefully have an effect on the dwindling water supply.

Recycling Water

  1. Recycling water seems like a smart, effective thing to do. What is treated waste water? And how can people help to contribute to the recycling of water?

  2. Not only does this water get reused, but this type of recycling also prevents pollution from untreated water waste. This is an advantage since "pollution of seawater, rivers, and groundwaters may be reduce" and "in most cases, the quality of the wastewater, as an irrigation water supply, is superior to that of well water."

  3. I also think it would be a smart thing to recycle water. it would stop alot of problems that we are having right now, and it is something that everyone could learn to do easily

  4. If the water is non-drinkable, isn't it still contaminated? Would this have any effect on the plants they're watering with it?
